Kiosk mode: let customers stamp themselves

A tablet at the counter shows a QR code that changes. Your customers scan it and take their own stamp, within the limits you set.

Kiosk mode is part of the Growth and Multi-site plans. A tablet (or an old phone) stands at the counter and shows a QR code that renews itself. The customer scans it with their own phone and touches one button: the stamp lands on their card. Nobody on your team has to do anything.

How it works for your customer

  1. They scan the code on the tablet with their phone's camera. No app to install.
  2. Their phone is recognised, and the page says hello. They touch "Take my stamp". Opening the page never stamps by itself.
  3. The stamp is added, the card in their Wallet updates, and the tablet plays a short "stamp received" animation. It never shows a name.
  4. A new customer signs up first and gets the one sign-up stamp. Nothing more that day.

Switch it on

  1. Open My card → Kiosk (owner only).
  2. Choose your limits: stamps per customer per day, the delay between two stamps, and how long a QR code lives. Examples are offered for a coffee shop, a bakery, a bar, a restaurant or a hairdresser; they only fill the form, you decide.
  3. Press "Switch the kiosk on".
  4. On the tablet, use "Open the kiosk on this device" if you are signed in there, or "Link another tablet": it gives you a link and a QR code to open on the tablet. The link works once and expires after 15 minutes. You never type your password on the tablet.

The limits are yours

  • Stamps per day: for one customer, from 1 to 20. A bar and a hairdresser do not need the same number.
  • Delay between two stamps: it counts every stamp of the customer, including the ones your team gives at the till.
  • Life of the QR code: it renews itself, and as soon as it has been used once. A photo of the screen sent to a friend does not work.

What waits for your validation

  • A stamp taken outside your opening hours.
  • A stamp from a phone that has just been recognised by an e-mail code (a new phone).
  • A stamp that comes very close to the previous one.

These stamps appear in your validations and your phone is alerted. A tablet can be removed at any time from the same page: its screen stops at once. The poster and the sign-up link never change: one stamp at sign-up, nothing after.

The kiosk shows that the customer was in front of your screen a few seconds ago, not that they bought something. Ask customers to scan after they have paid.
